1. WAS YOUR FIRST PREGNANCY PLANNED?
Yes! We tried pretty hard to get pregnant for several months after a miscarriage, but I truly believe it finally happened when I relaxed and accepted the fact that I can't "plan" everything.
2. WERE YOU MARRIED AT THE TIME?
Yes
3. WHAT WERE YOUR REACTIONS?
We were thrilled! We had planned to wait to tell everyone this time around, but my family came over the day I found out and I was too excited to hold it in. In the beginning we were both nervous, but so happy!
4. WAS ABORTION AN OPTION FOR YOU?
No way!

6. HOW DID YOU FIND OUT YOU WERE PREGNANT?
Since we were trying, I was taking a lot of pregnancy tests and although it was early (about 4 wks. along) I knew there was a chance I could get a positive result so I took one just for the heck of it.
7. WHO DID YOU TELL FIRST?
Alberto and then my family! We planned to wait until after 12 weeks to tell everyone else, but we found out at 6 weeks (our 1st doctor visit) that we were having twins, which was so EXCITING, but also even more scary! After our next visit, which was at 9 wks. with the Maternal Fetal Medicine doctor, we told everyone because he assured us there was nothing to worry about.
8. DID YOU WANT TO FIND OUT THE SEX?
Yes! I wouldn't have been able to stand all that anticipation!
9. WHAT WAS YOUR DUE DATE?
December 4, 2007
10. DID YOU HAVE MORNING SICKNESS?
Oh yes! It was terrible. I was still teaching in the traditional school at that time and all the smells of school made me sick! I had one student with B.O. who I had to send away at times because I literally couldn't stand to be in the same room. It lasted for about 5 months! I threw up everytime I brushed my teeth. To this day, I don't enjoy brushing the way I used to.
11. WHAT DID YOU CRAVE?
Nothing really. At the end, I just wanted junk food (chocolate, cookies, brownies) this is typically for me though!
12. WHO/WHAT IRRITATED YOU THE MOST?
I don't remember being too irritable, but I did get a little bothered by the lack of curtiousy that people show pregnant ladies and it was annoying to not be able to take a hot shower without getting dizzy and feeling as though I'd pass out.
13. WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST CHILD'S SEX?
Our first was a boy, followed one minute later by a girl!
14. DID YOU WISH YOU HAD THE OPPOSITE SEX OF WHAT YOU WERE GETTING?
I knew I had a good chance of getting pregnant with twins and from the moment I found out I was pregnant, I had a strong feeling it was twins! Once we found out it was twins, I of course wanted one of each...Can it get better than that? So, when we found out it was a boy and a girl, I was the happiest mommy to be in the world! When we were having the ultra sound, she did baby A first, which is the baby closest to the cervex and she said "Its a boy". I immediately teared up, partly because I was excited and partly because I was afraid it would be two boys!
15. HOW MANY POUNDS DID YOU GAIN THROUGHOUT THE PREGNANCY?
35 pounds...Awesome right?
16. DID YOU HAVE A BABY SHOWER?
Yes. It was huge! I can't believe how generous everyone was and how many people came. I was truly overwhelmed. At one point, I was reading a card a friend and wrote and I just started crying! We decided to have it early (in September) in case I got put on bed rest or had the babies prematurely. I am so glad we did because I was so exhausted and swollen after the baby shower, I couldn't even go to church the next day! I can't imagine if I would have been even further along.
17. WAS IT A SURPRISE OR DID YOU KNOW?
I knew. My mom planned it for me.
18. DID YOU HAVE ANY COMPLICATIONS DURING YOUR PREGNANCY?
No! The doctors warned us of the increased risk of a multiple pregnancy and I saw the Maternal Fetal Medicine doctor regularly to monitor each babies growth. At one point they thought I had gestational diabetes, but I just ate really well and never had a problem. At the end of the pregnancy during an ultrasound, we saw some weird stuff in Allie's abdomin which was initally very scary, but ended up clearing up on its own after birth.

20. HOW MANY HOURS WERE YOU IN LABOR?
Well, I started having contractions 5 minutes apart at 5pm and went to Labor and Delivery at 7pm. I was in surgery by 9 something and had the babies at 9:52pm and 9:53pm.

22. WHO WATCHED YOU GIVE BIRTH?
Alberto and my mom were in the room with me. It worked out really well because Alberto was able to go off with the babies and my mom stayed with me while I got all sewn up.
23. WAS IT NATURAL OR C-SECTION?
I had a c-section because neither of the babies ever went head down. They both stayed horizontal the whole time. The funny part is that they would do flips and so their heads would be on different sides of my stomach, but never head down!
24. DID YOU TAKE MEDICINE TO EASE THE PAIN?
Obviously! But now that I have been through it, I will definitely opt out on some of the meds that made me sick or crazy in the head next time.
27. HOW MUCH DID YOUR CHILD WEIGH?
Aj was 6lbs 14oz and Allie was 6lbs 13oz
28. WHEN WAS YOUR CHILD ACTUALLY BORN?
They were born on November 15, 2007 (37+ wks). I was scheduled to deliver at 38 weeks because that is as long as they let you go with twins so I was pretty proud I made it that far.
